ROAM, an Ingenico company, announced that Thatcher Technology Group has selected ROAM’s platform as the basis for its new mobile point of sale offering for direct-selling organizations.

Thatcher is using ROAM’s application programming interfaces, enabling software interaction, payment gateway and mobile payment engine, a press release says.

That will enable Thatcher’s customers to accept debit and credit card payments, while enhancing customers’ buying experience and improving business efficiencies, according to the release.

ROAM’s mobile commerce platform also helps reduce costs by enabling direct-selling companies to avoid card-not-present transactions and chargebacks, the release says.

“Mobile POS capabilities provide tremendous value to direct-selling organizations, facilitating a consultative sales approach while accepting card-based payments,” Patrick Crosson, vice president of strategic accounts for ROAM, says in the release.

“We wanted to extend the scope of our Prowess software with new mPOS capabilities that would allow our direct selling customers to realize the immediate benefits and measurable ROI that this technology provides,” says Dave Siembieda, president of Thatcher Technology Group.
