Blackbaud Chooses ROAM to Enable Nonprofit Clients to Accept Card Payments Via Mobile Device

Posted: Sep 30, 2013

BOSTON, MA – September 30, 2013 – ROAM (www.roamdata.com), an Ingenico company and the leading mobile commerce platform provider, announced today that Blackbaud, the leading global provider of software and services for nonprofits, is using ROAM’s platform as the basis for a new mobile point of sale (mPOS) offering for nonprofit clients. Blackbaud MobilePay enables Blackbaud’s nonprofit clients to accept credit and debit card payments via smartphone or tablets at an event or in the field. By making it more convenient to pay on the fly, Blackbaud expects this solution to help its clients reach more people and operate more efficiently.

According to Steve Klein, Blackbaud’s head of payment services, Blackbaud MobilePay was just recently launched and has already received rave fanfare and positive results.

“In bringing a mobile payment solution to the nonprofit market we looked for a mobile device partner that could provide a solution with stability, security and innovation,” said Klein. “ROAM came out on top on each point, and also offered a broader mobile device footprint than other vendors. Our clients were delighted with the outcome, the solution made it easier than ever to collect payments on the go and improve the consumer experience.”

“We found Blackbaud MobilePay incredibly easy to use, and it enabled us to process more payments, while keeping costs to a minimum,” said Anna Patty, development and communications coordinator at Four Oaks of Iowa. “Plus, our supporters see us as more professional and an organization with which they can entrust their charitable contributions. Originally, a major donor had wanted their community outreach event to benefit a different organization each year. As a direct result of using MobilePay, the donor has now chosen our organization as the recipient of the proceeds for all future years.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Blackbaud to give its clients a secure, efficient way to accept payments via mobile device,” said Eric Hoffman, senior vice president of sales at ROAM. “Not only is Blackbaud MobilePay efficient, but it also includes enterprise-grade device and security features resulting in successful transactions.”

ROAM’s technology powers mPOS solutions for some of the world’s largest retailers, acquirers and PSPs, including companies like iPayment, Groupon and Vantiv. ROAM provides its customers with everything required for a full mobile POS solution, including the card readers, mobile applications, management and development tools, as well as professional services for custom integrations and white labeling.
